South Pacific Open Snooker Tournament Report (2018)

Roger Farebrother has taken out the 13th running of the annual South Pacific Open in its modern day format. Thanks to Club Marconi and particularly Jim Ruisi and all the boys from the Marconi Snooker Association/Club for their continued support for this event and their ongoing support of Billiards & Snooker in general. Their love and enthusiasm for the game keeps the game alive. As Jim always says, keeps the dream alive.

Club Marconi boasts one of the best Billiards rooms in Sydney, recently renovated and with all the tables well maintained and in great condition, it’s the smartest looking room and the tables are a pleasure to play on. Why not get down for a game and some traditional Italian Pizza with your friends.

Also a huge thank you to Neville Moore who has put the live streaming computer gear together at his own expense, so we can enjoy the snooker at home and there was some fantastic games to watch. You can see all of Neville’s videos at

Roger defeated Hassan Kerde 4-1 in the final, Roger as did all the players put on an incredible display of snooker for the local spectators only losing 3 frames throughout the whole tournament and thoroughly deserved his win, as usual compiling an impressive list of breaks along the way. Roger def Adrian Ridley 3-0 in the semis in another entertaining match, Adrian beating James Mifsud 3-2 in another cracking Match. Roger had a much harder match against Ben Judge winning 3-2 with Ben making an 85 during the match. Ben was in fine form too defeating Glen Wilkinson 3-0. Sebastian Zhang had a great tournament until coming up against Roger.

Hassan was in scintillating form winning matches in his usual swash buckling style, lost a couple more frames than Roger. Huss took out the No1 seed Steve Mifsud 3-1 in the last 16 after winning a final frame encounter with Dale Kennedy. Steve had made the highest break of 133 during the game.
