Whitten Wins Again

NSW STATE WOMENS SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP

This year we had a field of nine ladies contesting for the NSW state title at Mingara Recreational Club on the NSW Central Coast. The venue was very well prepared and all those involved from Mingara Snooker & Billiards Club and Central Coast District Billiards & Snooker Assoc were most welcoming and a great ambassadors for the club. Particular mention to Steve Frew, President of the Mingara Snooker & Billiards Club for his ongoing support and assistance of this particular tournament, he declared the tournament a success and  happy to confirm their support next year.

The tournament was attended by Annette Clifford, Linda Larrea, Joy Perkins (sponsored ), Lou Lou Siharath, Ashley Smith, Dianne Spring, Carlie Tait,  Theresa Whitten (returning champion), Ingrid Winter.

A big thank you to the referees Alan Wood (both days), Alan Fletcher, Dirk Hellenbroich and Garry Knight.  Mention also to the photographer and video person, Neville Moore.

Theresa Whitten played  through the round robin dropping only one frame through the whole weekend to win against Carlie Tait in the final on Sunday the  25th of September in the best of 5 frames, winning 3-0.

Special mention goes to Carlie Tait and Annette Clifford. Carlie dropped only one frame in the round robin and one frame in the semi. Annette went through the round robin playing consistently and opened the day with a 20 break followed by 22 and 35 break.

Theresa made some impressive breaks of 20, 21, 25,26, 36 and 38 some of them being clearances.

Big thank you to all participants for making my first tournament as director an enjoyable event and I appreciate their patience and understanding.

Regards
Malcolm Winter
