Latest Updates to NSW Events Due to COVID

With the recent lockdowns announced by the NSW Government which extend to the 9th of July at this stage, a decision has been made to postpone the Ian Chappell Snooker Classic which was scheduled to run from the 9-11th July at Blacktown Workers Club in Sydney.

Snooker and Billiards NSW has met with the Club and have agreed to host the event on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of August. This weekend has become available due to the cancelation of Fred Osborne Memorial Snooker in Albury NSW.

Additionally the ABSC have made a determination that no State events apart from the State Championships will carry any National ranking status. An announcement from the ABSC can be found HERE.

Based on all of the recent changes the proposal with Blacktown Workers is being revised and the Ian Chappell Snooker Classic will NOT be a National Ranking event. The total prize pool will be modified (similar prize pool to State Snooker Championship) and the event will be capped to 64 players. Players that have already entered and paid their entry fees will be contacted via email in the next 48 hours with their options and next steps.

The NSW State Snooker that has been scheduled for the 24th and 25th of July at Blacktown Workers Club is still open and we will monitor the situation as things evolve.

These are unfortunate and disruptive times and ask for your patience and understanding as this creates additional strain for the tournament organisers. Obviously these changes are all subject to lockdown restrictions being lifted after the 9th of July.
