2025 NSW State Snooker Championships
/Well, another incredible weekend of snooker we had at Blacktown Workers Club.
Huge thanks to host & sponsor Blacktown Workers Club for their invaluable support, excellent facilities & hospitality! Workers are one of our sports best supporters and is one of the best and friendliest clubs also boasting one of the best Billiard Rooms in Sydney. We thank the Workers Club Billiards & Snooker very much especially David Battensby for their ongoing commitment, with another 6 events scheduled this year.

Congratulations go to our two finalists Vinnie Calabrese and Shaun Dalitz who produced a most scintillating display of snooker in the final, trading century breaks with Shaun making a 137 in the 3rd frame and taking out the 4th frame to lead 3 frames to 1. However, Vinnie bounced back to take the 5th & 6th frames decisively forcing a decider. Shaun potted a long red for position on the green and set to work picking off the loose reds before setting himself for a pink into the middle with an angle to develop the pack of reds, Shaun tried to force the pink and failed with Vinnie stepping up for a magnificent 71 clearance sealing the Match on the blue. All available on YouTube.
Vinnie is now a 5 times NSW State Snooker champion and joins the legends of the game Geoff Miller & Warren Simpson 5, Les Manglesdorf & Roger Farebrother 6, Frank Harris 7 & Glen Wilkinson 8. I have no doubt Shaun will start racking them up before long. However Vinnie did not have it all his own way and should have been sent packing in his first game by Sam Delia, Sam fought back from 2 nil down with some great clean potting after Vinnie produced his usual opening salvo with breaks of 65,56. With the 5th frame down to the colours with both players having chances Sam found himself needing the brown for Vinnie to need a snooker, unfortunately for Sam having potted the brown went in off into the middle pocket and Vinnie cleaned up to win. After that Michael Hough and Alex Ganji both took frames off Vinnie, and came out on top with doubles champions Adam and Hassan with some close battles. Shaun on the other side was playing very nicely with a string of breaks to get to the final. Other notable performances were semi-finalist Greg Jenkins and Quarter finalist Moti Pakharin with a nice win over Roger Farebrother
We had a very strong field of 70 players with coming from all areas of Sydney and regional NSW.
We thank all the players for their support especially those travelling long distances.
Special mention to Shaun Dalitz for the impressive break of 137 & 117in the final, Vinnie had a 101 & 100 and Roger 110.
Also a big shoutout to our fantastic referees and streaming team Steve Fabian, Monish Khan & Grant Pulley for their tireless work throughout the event. Unfortunate Grant took ill during the day and we wish him well
