Junior Players Benefit from Elite Coaching
/Some of NSW’s most promising junior snooker and billiards players have taken part in two outstanding days of elite coaching with World Billiards Head Coach and current world number three billiards player, Rob Hall of England.
The coaching sessions provided young players with a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the leading figures in world cuesports. Across the two days, Rob shared his technical knowledge, match-play experience and practical advice - which included everything from shots to practice on an unfamiliar table to what to eat and drink before a big match.
Experiences like this are invaluable for the long-term development of our junior players. Access to high-quality coaching and mentoring, particularly from a player and coach of Rob’s calibre, can make a real difference in helping juniors understand what is required to reach the next level. Just as importantly, it gives juniors the encouragement and inspiration to keep improving.
The program attracted players and families from across NSW, with some travelling from as far as Port Macquarie, Dubbo and the Shoalhaven to take part. Their commitment is a strong reflection of the enthusiasm and potential within the junior billiards and snooker community. The feedback from Rob was very encouraging, rating the potential of some of our junior players as equal to that he is seeing in the UK.
A sincere thank you goes to all players who attended and gave their best throughout the sessions. Special thanks also to the parents and families who made the time to support their kids. For those who couldn't make these sessions, be assured there will be more opportunities provided in the future, particularly as our junior hubs program expands across the State.
Events like these rely on the efforts of many people behind the scenes. Snooker and Billiards NSW is extremely grateful to Hornsby RSL Club and Guildford Leagues Club for making their first-class facilities available, with special thanks to Richard Hunter and Jimmy Hull for their support which ensured the coaching sessions could be delivered in a professional and welcoming environment.
Further special mentions go to Head of Junior Development Andy de Haan, NSW Billiards Champion Michael Pearson, and player and coach Mark Harper, whose support and commitment helped make the two days such a success.
The coaching program forms part of a broader commitment to strengthening junior development and creating clearer pathways for young players in NSW.
Snooker and Billiards NSW looks forward to building on this elite pathways program in the years ahead and continuing to create more opportunities for the next generation of players.
